Most Slovaks understand price increases and want state intervention

Most Slovaks understand the reason for price increases, however, 52% of Slovaks would welcome compensation from the state so that entrepreneurs do not have to translate the increased costs into prices in their entirety, according to a survey carried out by the company Investart. The survey further showed that 31% of Slovaks consider it necessary for entrepreneurs to raise prices because they have no other option. 12% of respondents have the opposite opinion, thinking that increased costs should not be reflected in prices at all. 3% of respondents were unable to answer.

"Our experience shows that it helps if companies find a way to clearly explain the reasons for the price increase to customers. Entrepreneurs should also communicate that they are aware of the fact that the increased price will make life difficult for the customer," said Michal Poruban of Investart.

The survey also outlined the perception of the business sector in the current crisis period. The highest portion (34%) of respondents think that entrepreneurs are a contribution, as they give people an opportunity to earn money. Meanwhile, 31% of respondents think that entrepreneurs become rich at the expense of their employees.

As many as 25% of respondents agreed with the statement that business people, unlike employees, take risks and, therefore deserve their profit, while 22.5% identified with the claim that entrepreneurs only seek a fast profit at any cost.

The claim that entrepreneurs must work hard to improve their business was supported by 22% of respondents. Twenty% of respondents agreed with the claim that the business sector contributes to the development of towns, villages and regions.

The survey was carried out on a sample of 1,002 respondents older than 18 in the form of a questionnaire in November.
