Actress Soňa Valentová passed

On Saturday, Slovak actress Soňa Valentová died at the age of 76. She began her prolific career in 1967 in the Slovak National Theatre and since then she played numerous roles in theatre, television productions and films, including the stepmother from the famous movie Perinbaba by Juraj Jakubisko. Valentová has been battling health complications since 2016, when she suffered a stroke.

Soňa Valentová was born on 3 June 1946 in Trnava as the third child, while both of her sisters perished in the Auschwitz concentration camp. After her studies at grammar school, she graduated in acting from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU) in Bratislava in 1967. In 1984 she also graduated in television directing.
