President Zuzana Caputova on Thursday signed into law the legislation to introduce salary hikes for hospital doctors and extend the remuneration period based on years of experience from 20 to 30 years, TASR learnt from President's spokesperson Martin Strizinec on the same day.
The bill was drafted in reaction to demands raised by the Doctors' Labour Union Association (LOZ) and approved during negotiations with representatives of the government. The Health Ministry pointed out that the new legislation will not only make the doctors withdraw their mass resignations, but also prevent the brain drain in health care and revive the flagging interest in the study of medicine.
