The average nominal salary in Slovakia grew by 9.4 percent year-on-year
to €1,296 per month in the third quarter of 2022, the Statistics Office
reported on Friday. This relatively rapid growth wasn't enough to overcome the inflation rate, however, and the average salary fell by 4 percent year-on-year in real terms. This decline was around the level seen in the previous quarter, when real salaries fell by 4.5 percent. The seasonally adjusted average salary rose by 2.4 percent quarter-on-quarter.
All 19 monitored branches of the economy observed yearly growth in the average nominal salary, but none of these increases was sufficient to offset inflation. In eleven sectors, salaries were lower than the average. The lowest average nominal salary was paid to employees in accommodation and food services (€842 per month). As for the first nine months of 2022, the average nominal salary in Slovakia reached €1,266 per month, an increase of 8.2 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, real salaries dropped by 3.3 percent. (TASR)
