Parliament on Thursday concluded the debate on the 2023 draft budget, with the vote slated for Friday, December 9. The debate started on Wednesday. In the meantime, the opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party has announced that it will not support the draft, with its MP Ondrej Dostal proposing that Parliament should return the draft so that it can be refined. Meanwhile, Smer-SD has stated that it will support the budget only if it receives a guarantee that a snap general election will take place next year. In line with the draft budget, Slovakia's public finance deficit in 2023 is expected to rise to 6.44 percent of GDP from this year's almost 5 percent.
