The parliamentary health committee on Wednesday morning approved a proposal to increase doctors' salaries and recommended that Parliament approve it. The committee also recommended that the proposal should be treated in fast-track legislative proceedings.
The proposed changes are reaction to the Medical Trade Union Association's (LOZ) demands. They should make doctors withdraw their notices, prevent interest in health-care studies from declining and prevent medical workers from quitting the sector, or going abroad.
In line with the proposal, the minimum wage of certified doctors should equal 2.5-times the average wage as of January 1, 2023, while it should be 1.5-times the average wage in case of non-certified doctors. In addition, doctors' salaries should be increased based on the number of years in service. Salaries of non-certified doctors should increase by 0.015-times the average wage for each year in service and those of certified doctors by 0.025-times for a period of 30 years.
The Government approved the proposal on Tuesday (November 29). (TASR)
