Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Rastislav Kacer met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the sidelines of a NATO summit held in Bucharest on Tuesday and both confirmed the strategic US-Slovak partnership, condemned the Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and concurred on the need to continue providing broad aid to Ukraine, TASR learnt from the ministry press department on the same day.
"Massive rocket attacks at power plants, electricity grid and apartment blocks in Ukraine have no military benefits and only intensify the suffering of the population. Russia must be held liable for these inexcusable misdeeds," said Kacer. He added that it's Slovakia's security interest and a moral duty to prevent the humanitarian catastrophe that Russia is attempting to cause in Ukraine.
On the first day of the summit, the ministers also discussed the future of ties between NATO and Ukraine. "It's time to start talking seriously about the vision for our eastern neighbour. We don't want this conflict to be repeated in the future, which is why one day Ukraine should enjoy the same security guarantees we do. From a moral standpoint, Ukraine undoubtedly deserves it," added Kacer. (TASR)
