Corrective mechanism to ease energy crisis rejected

At an extraordinary meeting in Brussels on Thursday, the ministers of the EU member states responsible for energy did not agree on a package to alleviate the effects of the energy crisis, Slovak Economy Minister Karel Hirman informed. He pointed out that the ministers had agreed on the simplification of permitting processes for renewable energy sources, the joint purchases of gas and the principle of solidarity in ensuring gas supplies, which Slovakia also supports. The reason is the dissatisfaction with the corrective mechanism to protect businesses and households in the EU from high gas prices. The ministers will meet again on this issue in Brussels on December 13.
