A fire that broke out in an apartment building on Prostejovska Street in Presov, eastern Slovakia, before midnight on Thursday claimed the lives of two people and two others suffered injuries. A state of emergency has been declared in the city and a crisis management team has been convened. City council spokesman Vladimir Tomek said that some 200 people who were in their flats when the fire broke out had to be evacuated. The gas supply to the apartment building has been shut off, heating and water distribution networks have been damaged, and the electricity supply is only in emergency mode
