The European Commission on Wednesday announced that it had approved a €50-million Slovak scheme to support agriculture, fishing and the aquaculture sector in the context of Russia's war against Ukraine. The Commission specified that the aid under the scheme would take the form of direct grants. Its aim is to support the liquidity needs of eligible beneficiaries and to help them overcome their economic and financial difficulties associated with the increase in energy costs and other inputs as a result of the current geopolitical crisis caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
