Survey: A third of Slovaks would get vaccinated directly in pharmacies

A third of Slovaks would get vaccinated against the flu if they had this option directly at the pharmacy. Of the vaccinated, half of the people are open to this option. This results from a representative survey conducted by the 2muse agency for the Association of Network Pharmacy Operators (APSL) in Slovakia. It was conducted from October 21 to 25 on a sample of 1,001 respondents. TASR was informed about this by the association's spokesperson Peter Sedláček.

The association reminds that it is much easier to get to a pharmacy than to a doctor. "If an adult wants to be vaccinated, for example against the flu, he must contact his doctor, ask him to issue an e-prescription for the vaccine. Subsequently, the patient must go to pick up the vaccine at the pharmacy, keep it in the refrigerator and go to his doctor again, who administers the vaccine to the patient," explained the president of the association, Jan Žák. However, according to APSL, flu vaccination is still not popular in Slovakia, usually three to four percent of the population per year. According to the association, the reasons why people do not consider the flu vaccination are due to ignorance or the very perception of vaccination. The Ministry of Health has already submitted draft legislation that would allow vaccinations in pharmacies from March next year. To begin with, against the flu, or the COVID-19 virus. (TASR)
