On Sunday in Bratislava Football Marek Hamšík played his last game for the Slovak National Team against Chile (0:0). The 33 year old midfielder who still continues to play for Turkish Trabzonspor holds the record in the number of games played (136) and goals scored (26) for the so called “repre”. At the age of 22 Hamšík became the youngest captain for Slovakia. In this position he led his country to its biggest success in history - the round of 16 at the World Cup in 2010. He did not completely rule out a return to the national team, as national coach Francesco Calzona is still trying to convince him, but suggested that such a scenario is very unlikely.
