The coalition council discussed the situation in health care and the energy crisis on Monday evening, said OLANO chair Michal Sipos before the meeting. MP Juraj Seliga (For the People) believes that the situation will be resolved in the near future. "Our primary goal is to come to an agreement that will make the medical staff realise that this government is giving them a helping hand, that they are partners and they are not alone," he said. Health Minister Vladimír Lengvarský announced on Monday that the situation in the health sector will also be discussed at the coalition council. He informed that he would present a new draft memorandum with doctors. The first draft of the memorandum was received by the medical trade unionists last week. According to them, it contained only vague promises and did not address their eight demands. The Association of State Hospitals and the Association of Slovak Hospitals have called on the government and medical trade unionists to hold a joint meeting on the current situation in the health sector. They also offered to participate in the search for a compromise. "Accepting the possibility of mass dismissals of doctors at a time when we are already facing a shortage is gambling with the health of patients. We refuse to be a victim of the failed negotiations between the government and the LOZ. Therefore, we consider the only possible solution to be a discussion at the common table and the search for a consensus that will allow the improvement of the current critical situation in the health sector," the associations concluded.
