Gov't Okays €500Mn contribution to SPP equity fund

The state as the sole stockholder of the SPP gas utility will bolster its liquidity by €500 million by making a contribution to the SPP private equity fund. SPP should return this money by March 2023, according to a proposal approved by the government on Monday. "The financial resources provided will be used primarily to ensure financial stability of the SPP during the critical period of the early months of the heating season and to tackle potential unpredictable and critical situations that might emerge on the gas market," stated the Economy Ministry. The contribution will be only temporary, with SPP due to repay the sum with potential interest to the Economy Ministry. Moreover, a venture capital fund of the state-owned Slovensko IT will be boosted by €2 million, as the Government gave its consent to earmark the sum for the company's sole stockholder, the Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation Ministry, at its online session on Monday. Slovensko IT was founded on September 5, 2020, with assets worth €4 million
