Survey: Higher food, energy and transport costs have biggest influence

Increasing prices of food, energy and transport have the greatest influence on people where inflation is concerned. This stems from a survey done in October by the Edenred company. The respondents expect moderate to substantial increases in all important fields of their expenses in the coming months. They expect much higher spending on food (84 percent), energy (83.3 percent), housing (64.9 percent), transport (64.2 percent) and restaurant meals (59.4 percent). "It's clear that the respondents are thinking of survival.

Technical devices and cultural events such as cinema or theatre are not considered important, which is alarming in the 21st century, but understandable in the present situation," said the public relations director of the company Livia Bachrata. According to another survey conducted by Kariera.sk, a total of 46 percent of people in Slovakia say that they are now having to limit themselves more when shopping, more than 60 percent do not eat in restaurants and only 43 percent can afford hotel accommodation. The energy crisis, high inflation and rising prices of goods and services have resulted in a change in the purchasing behaviour and lifestyles of many Slovaks.
