Imports rose in foreign trade in September

In September 2022, mainly imports increased month-on-month in foreign trade, which at first were supported by high energy prices, stated UniCredit Bank analyst Lubomir Korsnak in a comment on the September data on Slovakia's foreign trade, published by the Statistics Office earlier in the day. On the contrary, according to Korsnak, the promising recovery of exports stopped in September and exports again decreased month-on-month. The result was a significant deepening of the foreign trade balance, the monthly foreign trade deficit being the highest since April of this year. The Statistics Office on Wednesday reported that Slovakia had posted a negative trade balance in September 2022 with a deficit amounting to €473.3 million. Slovakia thus showed a significant trade-balance deficit for the fourth month in a row.
