Slovakia currently receiving more gas than it needs

Speaking on private television JOJ on Thursday, Economy Minister Karel Hirman claimed that Slovakia's gas storage facilities are almost 100-percent full and that the country continues to receive seamless supplies of gas from all its suppliers. "The flow of gas from our suppliers is continuous; it even exceeds the level we currently need," noted Hirman, explaining that this is mainly because of the warm weather. Nevertheless, the minister once again refused to predict the prices of gas and other energy carriers for households in 2023. According to the minister, the way out of the energy crisis lies in a common European solution to cap the price of gas, but such a measure is being blocked by Germany. Further in the debate Hirman stressed that the announced aid for small and medium-sized Slovak enterprises will cover the "vast majority" of companies. However, the aid will be limited to large companies, partly because they have to generate losses under recently introduced EU rules.
