The police have launched a nationwide traffic-safety operation called 'Sieve', whose is aim to curb the number of accidents on the roads, TASR learnt from Police Corps Presidium spokeswoman Denisa Bardyova on Wednesday. The checks will focus primarily on driving under the influence of alcohol, but speeding, hands-free driving and other illegal practices and obligations for road users will come under scrutiny as well. The operation is set to last until the end of November. (TASR)
