European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has tasked European Commission Vice-president Maroš Šefcovič with presiding over talks on the joint voluntary procurement of gas for EU member states. He was assigned with this task in light of his previous experience with energy-related negotiations since in his previous role Šefcovič was responsible for building the energy union.
