The coming winter is considered to be high-risk by the Interior ministry, as many Ukrainians are currently living in unsustainable conditions due to the Russian aggression in their country and there is also a risk of further escalation of the war, which may force even more people to flee to western Ukraine and other parts of Europe. According to the ministry's worst-case scenario, approximately 700,000 Ukrainians could flee to Slovakia during the winter. The Government at its session on Wednesday thus approved an Interior Ministry-sponsored contingency plan for a potential mass influx of Ukrainian refugees to Slovakia in the coming winter. The expected costs of the plan reach €31.7 million. The largest proportion of the sum, namely €14 million, should be allocated to emergency accommodation.
