Comenius University in Bratislava announced on Wednesday that it will not close down and suspend education on November 17 as it previously warned it could do due to inflation and a lack of funding for public universities. The largest Slovak university claimed that it is fully aware of its social responsibility in these difficult times. "At the same time, it's taken note of a significant change in the communication and approach of the Education Ministry, seeing the communication as constructive. Following the partial meeting of demands emerging from the Slovak Rectors' Conference on September 13, 2022, representatives of the academic community of UK have agreed that the university will not suspend teaching on November 17, 2022," reads the statement. The university remains ready to protest, however. The university urged the authorities to present a systematic, sustainable and predictable solution to the current situation as soon as possible.
