Interior Ministry State Secretary Vendelin Leitner received Polish Ambassador to Slovakia Krzysztof Strzalka at the ministry on Monday. Upcoming meeting of the Slovak-Polish inter-governmental commission for cross-border cooperation, due to take place on October 27 and 28 in Pezinok (Bratislava region) was high on the agenda of their talks. The Slovak and Polish officials confirmed the importance of cross-border cooperation, as well as interest in further development of relations between the two countries. The agenda of the commission's 24th meeting includes economic and trade cooperation, cross-border transport, cooperation and mutual aid in natural disasters, as well as support from the EU's Interreg V-A Poland-Slovakia Programme. The state secretary, who is also the chairman of the Slovak part of the inter-governmental commission agreed with the Polish ambassador that the current joint challenge is inclusion and aid to refugees from Ukraine who found their shelter from the war in Slovakia or in Poland. Cooperation and exchange of experience between the two countries' representatives in the social and employment fields is, therefore, important in this context.
