Speaking on private TV Markiza's politics talk show on Sunday, House Chair Boris Kollar said that households are likely to learn the precise figures regarding energy price hikes concerning them next week. His opposite number, Freedom and Solidarity leader Richard Sulik, stated that the energy prices would not have risen whatsover, had the Government finished the work Sulik had started as a former Economy Minister. House Chair believes that households might see energy price hikes of €20 monthly on average. A tripartite meeting is slated for Monday, October 24, to set caps on the energy prices for industry. Kollar is confident that the prices are going to be capped at a level that the industrial sector will be able to handle and survive.
Households that use gas for heating and electricity for cooking, such as people living in apartment buildings, might not experience any increase in their electricity charges. The people who use electricity to a larger extent might have to shell out about €10-15 more monthly, whereas the most pronounced hike should be expected by those living in houses. Sulik is saddened by what he sees as the coalition's deviation from his plan to save 15 percent of electricity. Those who could accomplish this would not have seen any hikes whatsoever. "I'm sorry that they had to do it differently just to spite us," stated Sulik and added that the European electricity and gas prices have recorded a sharp drop lately.
