Government's promise to meet doctors' demands would calm the situation

A formal promise by the government to meet demands of the doctors could satisfy both sides of the "conflict", President Zuzana Čaputová declared after her meeting with Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky on Monday. Both the head of state and the minister concurred that it's necessary to improve the lines of communication between the two sides. Čaputová noted that the problem has a broader spectrum and is the responsibility of several ministries. "It'd be good to have either the Prime Minister or the government take a step that won't be just a verbal promise but should also be formalised in some respect - in the form of a memorandum perhaps or other public pledge given to the doctors," she said. The President also referred to her meeting with health care personnel and visits she made to several regional hospitals last week. "My takeaway from all these meetings was the impression that the one thing we need to improve the most is communication," she said. Vladimir Lengvarsky also shared with the President a specific plan on how to meet the demands of the doctors.
