Maros Zilinka denies claims he's spreading Russian propaganda

Prosecutor-General Maros Zilinka on Monday denied claims that he's spreading Russian propaganda, calling such statements purely political and non-objective. The Prosecutor general at the same time disagreed with criticism against him in connection with the tragic shooting in Bratislava last week. Zilinka maintained that he has long been denigrated and that this has been culminating in recent days, as President Zuzana Caputova has jumped on the criticism bandwagon. "I'm being accused of spreading Russian propaganda because I shared a [Facebook] status," he said, adding that it was necessary to inform the public that the law-enforcement authorities will investigate a case of alleged desecration of the graves of imperial Russian soldiers at the war cemetery in the village of Ladomirova. On this note, the prosecutor firmly denied that he's under the influence of the Russian Ambassador to Slovakia. As for the criticism of his approach to the recent shooting outside the Tepláreň bar in Bratislava, Zilinka said that he's condemned any form of hatred and has dealt with the ensuing situation within the scope of his powers. "I assure everyone that I don't distinguish between people," he said. In his opinion, the accusations are part of continuing disparagement of him. Zilinka pointed to the fact that his office is due to make decisions on sensitive cases observed by the whole of society in the near future, remarking that if it's meant to pressure him, it's not working.
