The number of recipients of unemployment benefit in Slovakia increased by 1% month on month in September. The figure thus rose for the second month in a row. However, in year-on-year comparison, the number fell by 5% according to data published by the state Social Insurance company.
The condition for entitlement to unemployment benefit is to have at least 730 days of unemployment insurance in the last four years before being registered as unemployed. Unemployment benefit is granted on a per-day basis and the amount is 50 % of the employee's daily assessment base or gross daily wage.
