The tree of the year in Slovakia became the Dragon oak from Lozorno, western Slovakia. Supported by over 5900 votes, it will represent the country at the European tree of the year contest to be held in spring. The vox pop has been held in Slovakia for the 20th time this year. The three runners-up will be provided with treatment worth €300. For the third time, the contest included also planting trees in public spaces. Over 50 schools entered the activity and received plants for growing in their school gardens. The Tree of the year event is annually organised by the Ekopolis foundation.
