The government has allocated a total of €5 billion to alleviate the effects of soaring energy prices. According to Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, out of the entire sum, €1.5 billion is to be used this year and €3.5 billion in 2023. The details of the aid scheme are to be unveiled within a few weeks. The PM stressed that the sum represents 5% of Slovakia’s GDP and added that similar aid in other states usually ranges between 2-3%.
