Eastern NATO countries and the Slovak Republic have condemned the bombing of Ukrainian cities

In a joint statement on Tuesday, the presidents of 11 member states of NATO's eastern wing, including Slovakia, strongly condemned the latest missile attacks by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities, calling them "war crimes." TASR was informed about this by Martin Strižinec, the spokesperson of the Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová. "We, the presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, North Macedonia and Montenegro, condemn the mass bombing of Ukrainian cities by Russia, which is considered a war crime under international law," they stated. They called on Russia to immediately stop attacking civilian targets. "We will not relent in our efforts to bring to justice those responsible for yesterday's crimes," they emphasized. They recalled that war crimes and crimes against humanity have no statute of limitations and are subject to the jurisdiction of courts around the world. The presidents of the Bucharest Nine (B9), North Macedonia and Montenegro called "unacceptable all threats by Russian officials regarding the use of nuclear weapons". In this context, they also reiterated their commitment to "protect our countries and allies". (TASR)
