Next year's budget proposal for the Health Ministry is unacceptable across the whole health-care sector, stated Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky (an OLaNO nominee) on Tuesday following round-table talks with representatives of health-care workers. The head of the Slovak Hospital Association Marian Petko called the proposal the worst one in the past 20 years, opining that the health-care sector lacks €450 million. In this vein, he called on Parliament not to approve this budget.
Lengvarsky agreed with the opinion regarding the extra €450 million, claiming that he won't support such a budget for his ministry at a Government session. Meanwhile, head of the Private Doctors Association Marian Soth remarked that health care would become a luxury for ordinary people if the budget was approved, calling it the Finance Ministry's and the Government's disgrace.
"The Finance Ministry is openly supporting passive euthanasia, telling patients to take care of themselves on their own as best they can," said vice-chair of the Association for the Protection of Patient's Rights Elena Marusakova. (TASR)
