Chief of Slovak diplomacy Rastislav Kacer gives priority to the fomenting of firmer ties with Poland as Slovakia's key ally and partner. Kacer said this after his visit to Warsaw on Tuesday, where he explored avenues of closer cooperation as well as corollaries of Russian military aggression against Ukraine, including the energy crisis, with his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau, TASR learnt from the ministry press department on the same day. "Our joint neighbor is not just defending its own vital interests. Ukraine is fighting also for our freedom and the protection of the world order based on the UN Charter and respect for the rules of territorial sovereignty," claimed Kacer, who praised Poland's exemplary stance on the aggression. "I perceive Poland as our key ally and strategic partner. Our relations are growing in importance, as shown by the overlap in values, fast-paced growth in trade, the completion of strategic pipeline connections and also our defence cooperation, based on which Poland is temporarily helping to protect our airspace," said Kacer. He added that in geopolitically challenging times, he sees tighter Slovak-Polish ties as a priority. (TASR)
