President Caputova visiting Malta. Pays tribute to murdered journalist

Immediately after arriving in Malta on Wednesday evening, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova paid tribute to the investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was killed by a car bomb in October 2017. Caputova placed flowers at a memorial in the journalist's hometown of Slieme. The Slovak president later posted on a social network that the work of journalists and the freedom of the media is essential for the functioning of democracy. The Slovak head of state is participating in a meeting of fourteen European Union presidents belonging to the Arraiolos Group on Thursday. This is the first time Slovakia will be represented at the meeting. The presidents are to discuss the challenges that the European Union is currently facing, including the security situation in connection with the war in Ukraine and the impacts of the energy crisis and migration.
