After completing its integration training, the new multinational NATO battlegroup in Slovakia is now fully functional. According to the NATO website, soldiers seconded from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia and the United States took part in the Strong Cohesion 2022 exercise, which was designed to test the functionality of the battlegroup and its ability to operate under a single command. The exercise was held on September 20-22. The Alliance also stated that following the unprovoked Russian aggression in Ukraine, the Allies had decided to form four new multinational battlegroups, in Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia in order to bolster the deterrence on NATO's eastern flank.
