Prime Minister Eduard Heger and new US Ambassador to Slovakia Gautam Rana concurred at a meeting at the Government Office on Tuesday that the relations between our countries are problem-free, TASR was told by the Government Office's press and information department.
They discussed the current energy crisis, with the premier explaining the situation in the country to the new ambassador. "Slovakia is a responsible ally and partner in the NATO and EU, but in addressing the energy crisis we need support not only from Brussels, but also from Washington," said Heger.
They also touched on the current situation in Ukraine, as well as the intensification of relations between Slovakia and the USA following the Russian aggression. "Funds worth €206 million, which Slovakia will receive as part of the military aid from the USA, show that we're a responsible ally in the transatlantic area. This money will be used for the modernisation of the armed forces, counter-drone protection, but also to fight hybrid threats," said Heger. (TASR)
