Presidents including Čaputová condemn annexation of Ukrainian territories

Presidents of nine Central and Eastern European countries including Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová condemned the annexation of Ukrainian territories by Russia in their joint statement.

"We cannot remain silent in the face of this blatant violation of international law. We reaffirm our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. We do not, and never will, recognise the Russian Federation's efforts to annex any part of Ukrainian territory. We support Ukraine in its defence against the Russian invasion, we demand that Russia withdraw immediately from all occupied territories and we call on all Allies to substantially increase their military aid to Ukraine. All those who commit crimes of aggression must be held accountable and face justice," reads the statement. Apart from Čaputová, it was signed by Czech Miloš Zeman, Estonian Alar Karis, Latvian Egils Levits, Lithuanian Nausėd, Montenegrin Milo Đukanović, North Macedonian Stevo Pendarovski, Pole Andrzej Duda and Romanian Klaus Iohannis.
