The Budgetary Responsibility Council's Office has slightly reduced the estimated level of the general government deficit in 2022. Compared to the August forecast, the estimated deficit has been reduced by €29 million or by 0.03 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The general government deficit can thereby reach the level of €3.76 billion, which is 3.5 percent of GDP. "Despite the additional expenses resulting from the new measures, the general government deficit has been reduced due to the persisting slow pace of drawing capital expenditures from the state budget and investments from the recovery plan," said the office. The current estimate includes expenses for the government-sponsored second payment of the 13th pension amounting to €208 million.
