At their joint meeting in Bratislava on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Minister Rastislav Kacer asked his Belgian counterpart Hadja Lahbib to quickly complete the investigation and establish possible criminal liability in the case of Slovak national Jozef Chovanec's death following the intervention of the Belgian police in 2018. "After more than four years, I believe that the Belgian authorities will proceed without delay in this matter so that the case can be closed fairly," stated the minister, adding that Slovak diplomacy will continue to closely monitor the case and provide the necessary cooperation until its conclusion. The ministers also discussed several other topics at their meeting, such as intensifying cooperation in the field of energy in the future, in the context of gradually getting rid of European dependence on Russian gas and oil.
