For 88% of Slovak citizens it is important to live in a democratically governed country, indicates the latest data from the European Social Survey published by the Slovak Academy of Sciences. However, this figure is slightly below the average of the ten democratically governed countries in the research. Czechs expressed statistically lower importance of democracy. On the contrary, it was higher among Finnish, Estonian and French respondents. In terms of satisfaction with the functioning of democracy in the country, only Bulgarians and Croatians expressed lower satisfaction.
