Poll: Voice-SD would win the elections in September

If the elections to the National Council of the Slovak Republic were held in mid-September, the non parliamentary Voice-SD party would win them with 18.3 % of the vote, indicates a poll conducted by the Ipsos agency for Denník N. The second most preferred party would be the opposition Smer-SD with 15.5% of the vote, while the third place would go to non-parliamentary Progressive Slovakia (PS), with 11.6% of voters. Another five parties would make it into parliament. The Freedom and Solidarity, which recently left the government would receive 9.3% of the vote, the major governing Ordinary People would have 7.8%, the junior governing We are family 7.5%. The far right Republic would earn 7%, and the Christian Democratic Movement with 6.5% would be the last to win seats in the House.

The Slovak National Party would be the first not to make it into Parliament with 2.8%, followed by the-far right People’s Party Our Slovakia (2.7%), the ethnic Hungarian Alliance (2.1%), Together-civil democracy (1.9%), junior governing For the People and the Hungarian Forum, would earn 1.7% and the Good Choice and Moderates, with 1.3%. Other parties would have been voted for by 2.1% of respondents.

Based on the votes in the poll, Hlas-SD would win 33 seats in the parliament, Smer-SD 28, Progessive Slovakia 21, Freedom and Solidarity would have 17 seats in the National Assembly, Ordinary People 14, We are Family 13, Republic and Christian democrats would be represented by 12 deputies.

In the poll, conducted from 14 to 20 September, 1003 respondents were contacted, 69% of them would vote.
