People all over Slovakia can help visually impaired people by contributing to the White Crayon fundraising campaign on Friday organised by the Slovak Blind and Partially Sighted Union. Volunteers will speak to people in the streets about everyday life with visually impaired people and give donors a white crayon as a symbol of thanks. Funds are being raised by teams with blue and white paper collecting boxes. People can also contribute by sending an SMS, transferring money to an account or via an online donation through the website www.bielapastelka.sk.
White Crayon is a year-round fundraising campaign, which culminates every year in streets across Slovakia. It's collected almost €2 million in net revenues during its 20-year history. The money has been used on activities related to defending the interests of visually impaired people and promoting legislative changes in their favour.
