During her visit to New York, Slovak President Zuzana Caputova bestowed the highest state award - the Order of the Double White Cross - on Ruzena Bajcsyova, a Slovak scientist living in the United States, for extraordinary spreading of Slovakia's good name abroad. Bajcsyova is a pioneer in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence, which she views as industries that increasingly affect people's everyday lives. 20 years ago Discover magazine ranked Bajcsyova among the world's 50 most important women in science. Being affected by the totalitarian rule in Czechoslovakia, Bajcsyova found in the United States not only a home, but especially an environment favourable for work, professional growth and the application of her exceptional talent.
