Slovakia has received a sum of €6.5 million from the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) and a further €9.3 million from the Border Management and Visa Instrument (BMVI) in connection with the influx of Ukrainian refugees into other European countries. The European Commission has distributed the funding among the EU-member states that have been most affected by the massive influx. The aid for Slovakia was requested by the Interior Ministry. "From the beginning, the Slovak Republic has been in solidarity with people displaced from their homes in Ukraine by Russian aggression. Following several visits, this has also been noted by representatives of European institutions directly on the [Slovak-Ukrainian] border. I'm glad that the European Union has recognised our show of solidarity and allocated funds for the countries most affected by the refugee crisis," said Interior Minister Roman Mikulec.
