A team of Ukrainian medics will train in Košice next week as part of a cross-border project to provide better care for cystic fibrosis patients. A team of female doctors and a female physiotherapist from the newly established centre for this serious hereditary disease at the Regional Children's Hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk will undergo five days of training. According to the President of the Slovak Cystic Fibrosis Association Katarína Štěpánková, "the project is changing opportunities for cystic fibrosis patients and will provide them, as a disadvantaged group, with the same opportunities as their healthy peers. It will intensify cooperation between the regions of Slovakia and Ukraine for this rare disease."
The project is implemented with the support of EU funds within the framework of the cross-border cooperation programme with Ukraine.
