The Slovak Pensioners Association (JDS) on Tuesday submitted a petition to House Chair Boris Kollar (We Are Family) entitled 'Pensioners Want to Live with Dignity Too'. Among the demands listed on the petition are an extraordinary 8-percent increase in pensions by the end of the year, the unfreezing of minimum pensions payments, and payment of the so-called 14th pension in November. In addition, seniors are asking for approval of the 13th pension instead of a Christmas bonus, an increase in the state contribution for rehabilitation-health treatments from €50 to €100, and free-of-charge dispensing of all medications for every senior. The petition was submitted with more than 180,000 signatures.
