Analyst: Petrol prices could fall in coming days

Petrol and diesel prices at Slovak petrol stations could fall in the coming days, said Jana Glasová, an analyst at 365.bank. According to her, the current development on the oil market creates the preconditions for a drop in petrol prices, especially if oil prices stay below the USD 90 level.

"But it is important to mention that there are conflicting factors currently affecting the oil market. On the one hand, there is the scarcity of oil on the market, which is pushing up oil prices, and on the other hand, there are fears of a recession in the world economy and a fall in demand for oil. And this is pushing down prices on the oil market," Glasová added.

However, in a year-on-year comparison, Slovaks are still paying significantly more for petrol and diesel. Petrol 95 is about 22% more expensive than last year and petrol 98 is 20% more expensive. However, the most significant year-on-year increase is recorded for diesel, which is up to 44% more expensive than last year.
