Slovak authorities react to the British monarch’s demise. President Zuzana Caputova said at the news that during her 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth II became a role model and source of inspiration to everyone. Slovak President sent her condolences to the British royal family and the people of Great Britain as well as the Commonwealth of Nations.
While the President sees Queen Elizabeth as a role model and inspiration to all of us, House Chair Boris Kollar declared that she had a personality that softened the edges of disputes within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and ensured its stability. Kollar sent his condolences to the people of the United Kingdom and the whole British Commonwealth of Nations. "Even though she didn't possess direct control of executive power in terms of British constitutional principles, her personality had in many cases facilitated the decolonisation processes and the shaping of the new form of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland," said Kollar. In his view, the 2008 visit of Elizabeth II to Slovakia belongs among the most pivotal moments in Slovakia's modern history. "The most memorable was her unveiling of a memorial on the bank of the River Danube in Devin, which symbolizes our restored affiliation to the Western civilisation," he claimed. “Elizabeth II will always remain in the hearts of Slovaks,” added House Chair.
Elizabeth II was a respected and dignified British Queen, a symbol of modern monarchy, and her death brings a whole chapter of human history to an end, Prime Minister Eduard Heger declared on Thursday. Heger voiced his heartfelt sympathies to the royal family, the people of the United Kingdom and countries of the British Commonwealth. According to Slovak Prime Minister, the manner in which Elizabeth II reigned in her kingdom and approached hardships both in her private and public life posed an inspiration to everyone. "She always exuded strength and dignity. Even at the time when she buried her beloved husband, Prince Philip. Because Elizabeth II wasn't just the Queen, she was also a wife and mother," claimed Heger. He pointed out that Elizabeth II was crowned as a young, 26-year-old woman and ever since then had worked tirelessly and diligently for her own country.
According to Foreign Minister Ivan Korcok, Queen Elizabeth II represented democratic values, the identity of the United Kingdom and service to homeland in a memorable way. He expressed his condolences to British Ambassador to Slovakia Nigel Baker in a phone call. For Slovak Ambassador to the United Kingdom Robert Ondrejcsak, Elizabeth II impersonated the unity of the British nation, was the symbol and an important personality really shaping the history.
