Police patrols on Czech-Slovak border to be reinforced due to migration

Police patrols on the Czech-Slovak border will be reinforced on both sides, with the aim of handling the increased number of migrants coming to Europe and avoiding the introduction of border checks. Interior Minister Roman Mikulec and his Czech counterpart Vit Rakusan reported on this following their bilateral talks in Brno on Thursday. According to Rakusan, he and Mikulec agreed that there is no simple or national solution to the increase of migrants in Europe. Slovakia, the Czech Republic and other European countries are suffering from so-called secondary migration, Mikulec noted, explaining that people who arrive in these countries do not want to stay in them. "The European Commission must be much more active in implementing readmission agreements with third countries, because we need to solve the migration crisis in the countries in which it takes place," he said, stressing the need to discuss the issue at the EU level.
