President Zuzana Caputova left on Monday afternoon for an official visit to Greece; her long-planned foreign trip will continue to North Macedonia on Wednesday. Today, Tuesday, 6 September, the Slovak Head of State was received in Athens by Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulos and also met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. They discussed solutions to the energy crisis, the diversification of energy sources and other challenges that both countries face in connection with the war in Ukraine. "The goal of their joint negotiations is to open a new chapter in mutual relations," said presidential spokesperson Martin Strizinec. The last time a Slovak president visited Greece was in 2008. Caputova is also accompanied by a group of representatives of Slovak companies and institutions dealing with the green transition and energy. During her official visit to North Macedonia, Caputova will meet her local counterpart Stevo Pendarovski and Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski in Skopje on Wednesday (September 7).
