The first deliveries of vaccines adapted to the omicron variant of the novel coronavirus are due to arrive this week, Health Minister Vladimir Lengvarsky said after the Government meeting on Monday, adding that for now, they are intended for people over 50 years of age. "I expect that following proper preparation and administrative matters, we'll start vaccinating in the middle of the month," he noted. According to him, a total of 1.1 million vaccines are expected to come by the end of the year. Lengvarsky explained that the number of vaccines was contracted in 2021. "We're fulfilling the commitment we promised then. We've just exchanged the number of vaccines that were supposed to come to Slovakia for the adapted vaccines," he added.
