Minister of Defence of the Slovak Republic Jaroslav Naď and Czech Minister of Defence Jana Černochová have signed a declaration between the Slovak and Czech defence ministries on the procurement of tracked armoured vehicles. They also concluded a contract on cooperation between the Czech company Aero Vodochody and the Trenčín Aircraft Repair Plant in joint projects. Naď emphasised that this is a unique agreement. It will be a joint procurement of CV90 tracked armoured fighting vehicles. He considers it significant that the joint acquisition will reduce the overall price of the equipment. According to the Minister, the project is expected to be worth approximately EUR 1.8 billion. Černochová stressed that her predecessors had tried to launch a tender to meet the goal of having a heavy brigade built by 2026. "As this was not successful, we had to terminate the tender and start again. I approached Minister Naď at that point and asked him about the possibility of our countries working together," she recounted. According to the ministers, a joint approach is best not only in terms of lower cost but also in that there will be more technology in one region.
